Love is Always a Choice
Actually, it is the only natural choice. Choosing love — especially when it is not the obvious reaction — is the way to get out of the box of our smaller self; the ego-based self that is fearful, defensive, and doing its thing to protect us from what seems like a very hostile world nearly all the time. Being stuck in that frame of reference takes a lot of energy and force, which is exhausting and destructive not only for ourselves, but for society and the world as a whole. It is a waste of our true capacity and potential. Light cannot enter a closed box.
Opening Up to Our Power
The greatest benefit to choosing love is that it taps into the power of magnetism, which is effortless because it is everywhere. It simply is. It is our natural state. Love brings light into the darkness. It is the source of healing and growth. If we can recognize and remember that, a path to expanded consciousness opens and we can begin to evolve.
Evolve into what? More powerful human beings that start to radiate, not just vibrate!
The energy of love is radiant and magnetic because it is part of the natural attractor field that holds our world together. Whether we are aware of it or not, we become what we regularly hold in our minds because the world constantly reflects what are becoming. It is an endless loop of creation. If what we hold in mind is loving, then our world becomes loving. If what we hold in our minds is about material desire, hatred, fear, revenge, ego, our inferiority, and so on, the reality of our world also becomes that way. It is always a choice, and the challenge is simply to choose ever more wisely. To follow the wisdom of our heart. As Yogananda told us ‘we must use our time to develop spiritual magnetism in order to attract the Imperishable. Develop the power to attract the highest, and we can easily attract all lesser things’.
In 2016, we founded a community of practice that we call the Love Mafia. Its core mission is to evolve together by choosing love and letting our hearts calibrate our energetic compass. We have been flowing through each other’s energies and paths, experiencing the silent but powerful magnetism that connects us through time and space. Throughout all the years and countless experiences we’ve had, we continue to believe that practicing love as a way of being and doing is the only path to Heaven on Earth and the blueprint for Utopia.
We have experienced that real love demands humility and surrender. It lovingly requires us to admit that we don’t really know. It forces us to self-remember that our heart does not really speak in words or think in logical terms. Unconditional love does not see lack of physical accomplishment as failure, but quietly applauds all the sincere efforts we make as important rehearsal for the real thing. Deep awareness and awakening starts when we take in the learnings of these hard lessons.
Beyond our 5 senses and active minds, our inner feeling requires a more subtle attention and focus. How can we express the more beautiful world that our heart’s know is possible? By further developing the feeling, by tuning our heart strings, and through deeper sharing with each other.
Recognizing 2022 as the year of “The Lovers”, our challenge is to ask ourselves what we are ready to sacrifice or let go of to move forward with more Love. What is stopping you?
